Notice of Lease Violation (MI)

Whether intentional or not, lease violations happen from time to time. The first step toward fixing a violation is to send a notice of lease violation letter that documents the specific violation, notifies the tenant of the violation, and asks them to fix it. It's best to do this with a formal letter so that you and the tenant have a record of what occurred.

The letter can be customized to include as many violations as necessary and can also list the specific section of the lease or rental agreement that's been violated.

This letter is intended to let a tenant know that they are violating part of their lease (noise, parking, trash, storage, use of common areas, signage rules, etc.). It is NOT intended to be a legal notification of default, or a step toward terminating the lease and eviction. For those purposes you should consult an attorney.

This should also not be used to notify the tenant of a failure to pay rent when due.
